2004. Designed at the Tres Design Group. Produced by Copco.
After researching competitive products and meeting with The Chicago Lighthouse, Center for the Visually Impaired, we realized that many of the products in the “Kitchen Tools” category did not address the obvious needs of legibility. The high-contrast and oversized type of these spoons are a result of this. We also explored the use of braille molded onto the handles, but the client believed this would narrow the market scope of these tools to only the visually impaired community.
The high contrasting color also provides a break line, where measurements can accurately be leveled off. Another unique quality to these spoons are the magnetized ends. Unlike most measuring spoons that are looped together through a ring, these spoons can be separated and dealt with individually and easily organized back together.
